Student Recognition

• Academic Letter - Recognition ceremony in the fall honoring students who earned a 4.0 or above grade average (GPA) in both semesters the previous year. Students receive letters, pins, certificates, and a reception in their honor. This letter is the same one given to students who letter in a sport, except it has the lamp of knowledge symbol. (Students who repeat the academic accomplishment receive a bar pin to place on their letter.)

  The annual ceremony honoring the 2007-2008 recipients will be held in August 2008. Students who earned the Letter will receive a invitation to the ceremony.
  

• Prinicipal's Honor Roll - Academic Recognition is given to those students who obtain a 4.0 or higher for an individual semester.
  
  
• Honor Roll - Academic recognition for students who earned a 3.75 or higher GPA in both semesters the previous year.
• CATS Award - Recognition for students nominated by their teacher for making a significant improvement in the classroom during the semester.
• A.B.C. Scholarship - College scholarships are awarded to outstanding students for their academic acheivements, including one participant in the Learning Links tutoring program. Check the Guidance Office in the spring for an application. In 2007 A.B.C. awarded scholarships to four students.

Teacher Recognition

• Above and Beyond Teacher -- A joint program of the Academic Booster Club and the Wheeler PTSA. Teachers are nominated by parents and students for going "above and beyond" by giving their time and talents to help and encourage Wheeler students. The award recognizes teachers who are always willing to work hard to bring recognition to Wheeler and to support ideas which improve our school and its reputation in the community.
