2020 ABC Scholarship application is now OPEN!

In keeping with the mission to support and promote academic success for all Wheeler students, the Wheeler Academic Booster Club will award four $500 scholarships to deserving Wheeler seniors who plan to further their education by enrolling in either a four-year college degree program or two-year degree or technical certification program.


Students applying must meet the following criteria:

· Be a Wheeler student in good standing and graduating in May 2020

· Complete the online application and answer the short essay prompts found here

· Adhere to the deadline established and essay word limits.

All applications and transcripts must be received by 11:59 pm on April 12, 2020.

ACT or SAT? Jed Applerouth & ABC Meeting

Please join the Academic Booster Club on Tuesday, September 3, at 6:30pm in the Wheeler Media Center as we host Jed Applerouth, teacher and educational innovator. Jed is a Nationally Certified Counselor with a PhD in Educational Psychology.

Jed is coming to discuss college applications trends and help you make informed decisions regarding testing and the major differences and similarities between the ACT and the SAT tests. Learn how to structure an effective testing plan. Let's discuss the optimal strategy to minimize stress and get your kids ready to hit their best scores for scholarships and admission

Fall ACT Prep Class Registration is now open

The Academic Booster Club and Applerouth Tutoring is once again offering a prep class for the ACT. Classes will be held at Wheeler over 8 Sunday afternoons from 2:00pm - 4:30pm starting on Sunday, September 8, 2019. Each student will take 2 mock test, one on September 7 and another on October 19 to tailor the sessions to the groups needs.
Fee is $375

Fall SAT Prep Class registration is now open

The Academic Booster Club is once again offering a prep class for the SAT. Classes will be held at Wheeler over 6 Sunday afternoons from 2:00pm - 4:30pm starting on Sunday, September 8, 2019. Each student will be given their own set of Princeton Review materials, including practice tests.
Fee is $275.

September 7 ~ Mock ACT, SAT & combo test registration is now available

On Saturday, September 7, 2019, the Wheeler Academic Booster Club and Applerouth Tutoring will offer a full length practice test under the same testing condition as the real thing. Scores will NOT be sent to colleges, they are provided to students to help decide which test is best for them and where additional prep is needed.

Applerouth will provide a free review session at Wheeler on September 17 at 7pm in the Media Center

Nominations open for Above and Beyond Awards

For the twentieth year, the Wheeler Academic Booster Club will present a special award to two Wheeler Teachers/Counselors who have gone “Above & Beyond,” giving their time and talents to help and encourage the students of Wheeler High School.

Recipients of this award in the last seven years have been:

We are asking parents and students to nominate teachers/counselors who they feel go the extra mile to make Wheeler the great school that it is -- teachers/counselors who are always willing to work hard to help students and to support ideas that improve the school and its reputation in the community.
