As final exams approach, the Wheeler ABC and HS Counseling Office would like to share Ms. Moudgal's presentation: "Managing Stress and Getting Ready for Finals Exams.” Students and parents will benefit from Ms. Moudgal's timely and candid discussion about how to recognize and manage stress and her best practices to prepare for final exams.
For the twentieth year, the Wheeler Academic Booster Club will present a special award to two Wheeler Teachers/Counselors who have gone “Above & Beyond,” giving their time and talents to help and encourage the students of Wheeler High School.

We are asking parents and students to nominate teachers/counselors who they feel go the extra mile to make Wheeler the great school that it is -- teachers/counselors who are always willing to work hard to help students and to support ideas that improve the school and its reputation in the community.

All Wheeler HS parents and students are invited to hear Ms. Sumana Mougdal, Wheeler HS Magnet counselor, discuss “How to prepare for Finals, EOC’s and AP Exams -- General Study Strategies and Managing Stress" at the Wheeler ABC spring business meeting, Tuesday, March 26, at 6:00 pm, in the Wheeler HS Media Center. As the end of the school year approaches, many students will have a substantial workload as well as other demands on their time, such as participation in sports, clubs, and part-time jobs. Join us as Ms. Mougdal provides guidance on how to help students manage time, effectively prepare for exams and minimize related stress. We look forward to seeing you.

Jed is coming to help you make informed decisions regarding testing and the major differences and similarities between the ACT and the SAT tests. Learn how to structure an effective testing plan. Let's discuss the optimal strategy to minimize stress and get your kids ready to hit their best scores for scholarships and admissions.

Open House is Tuesday, August 21st beginning at 6pm! This is the time when parents have the opportunity to meet with their students' teachers. Open house begins in the Performing Arts Center at the back of the school. Parking is available in either the front staff lot or the back student lot. See you there!

The sign-up deadline for the ACT class is also this week on Wednesday, August 22 at noon.
Practice SAT/ACT Tests offered at Wheeler: One of the best ways to score higher on the SAT or ACT is to practice taking the test. For a nominal fee, the Academic Booster Club offers students three practice options: a full-length SAT, a full-length ACT and a condensed, combination test with SAT and ACT sections. Scores are NOT reported to colleges, but are provided to students in a comprehensive report. With their results broken down by section, students can then focus on the aspects of the test where they need additional preparation. SAT Test Preparation Classes: The Academic Booster Club sponsors an SAT prep class taught by Wheeler teachers with Princeton Review materials. Beginning on September 16, the course takes place over 6 sessions, 2 1/2 hours each on Sunday afternoons. ACT Test Preparation Classes: The Academic Booster Club, in partnership with Applerouth Tutoring, offers an after-school ACT workshop to help students prepare for the ACT test. Beginning on August 27, the Monday afternoon class meets 8 times with the instructor providing a structured review of major concepts and strategies.
