In order for us to receive materials in time for the first day of class, ALL registrations for the SAT class must be done by Thursday, January 12th. Registration is open for winter MOCK ACT and SAT classes


The Academic Booster Club will be offering two Saturday mock test days this winter to help students prepare for the SAT or ACT tests. Each mock test is only $10. Results, tips and strategies to improve scores will be delivered during a followup session on February 15 at 7 pm. Click here to register online for the February 4 ACT and Combo SAT/ACT tests and the February 11 SAT test. For more information, contact mocksat@wheelerabc.org.

Winter SAT Classes at Wheeler

The Academic Booster Club is sponsoring a 6-week SAT Prep class at school beginning Sunday, January 22 from 3:30 to 6:00 pm. The course, taught by Wheeler teachers, includes 15 hours of classroom instruction, an official Princeton Review study manual, 11 full-length tests, and 4 diagnostic tests. Priced at almost half the cost of other classroom SAT classes locally, the winter series will finish in time for the March 11th SAT test. For more information and to register, click here. "Success 1600"


The Cobb Schools Foundation and Princeton Review have teamed up again to offer "Success 1600," a spring SAT Prep Class made available to eligible students for only $25! To be eligible for this opportunity a student and/or parent must attend a meeting held on Monday, December 12th at 6:00 pm in the Media Center. The schedule for the course can be seen here.
 
 

Parent University - All Things Academic

Join the Counseling Department on Nov 30th at 6:30pm in the Media Center to learn more about:

  • Naviance  – the web portal that students can use to find colleges and careers based on skills and interests, to summarize school activities and test scores, and more.
  • College Choice Process – how to choose and prepare for a college. 
  • Post-Secondary Options – how to get into the college of your choice.
  • What to do when your student is struggling
  • Counseling – how the department supports families, provides resources for your student, calculates GPA and more.

Due to the inclement weather, this event was cancelled. Stay tuned for information on rescheduling.

Success 1600 Informational Meeting

There will be an Informational Parent and Student meeting for all interested Juniors in the College Board's Success 1600 program (formerly known as Project 2400) November 15 at 6 pm in the Auditorium.  All Wheeler Junior students are invited and will have an opportunity to be selected to receive a free Princeton Review SAT Prep course in Spring 2017.  To be eligible for this opportunity, the student or parent must attend this meeting.  Last year the Wheeler students taking this class raised their average SAT scores over 100 points. If you have any questions, contact Dr. Crooks.
 

AP Teacher Lunch

The Academic Booster Club will be hosting a lunch for the Advanced Placement teachers on Tuesday, November 1 and would love your help with the food!

We will be serving a buffet lunch in the Magnet Conference Room during 3rd block for the 25 AP teachers. The lunch coincides with a kickoff of some new school initiatives for the AP Program.

Please consider providing something, either homemade or purchased, to be delivered to the Magnet Conference Room by 11:15 am that morning.

Student I.D.s and Academic Booster Club Honor Cards Being Distributed November 2

All student i.d.s will be distributed through homeroom on November 2. For students who were on honor roll last spring, your i.d. has an honor roll sticker on the back. The sticker identifies the local merchants who will offer you a discount with presentation of your i.d. Thanks go out to Brusters, El Taco, J. Christopher's, Peace Love and Pizza, Righteous 'Que, and Zaxbys for their support of our honor card program!
